Come Eleven

Roger Williams

cause proffers
other than
mere offerings
or as sheen

petty shouts
then rustles
athwart opaque
doing a solid
thing than
moist rustling

subtle water crypts
an' disappears
you understand as
this is mute vapor
finding shining

Roger Williams lives about an hour north of San Francisco. He taught French at San Francisco State University until retirement in 1987. He studied poetry with Roethke and Bogan, setting poems to music-Wilde, Patchen, Creely, Merwin and others. His own poems appear in: UDP 6x6 and a broadside, Experiential-Experimental Literature, Counterexample Poetics, Otoliths, Ygdrasil, Ditch, and Modern Poetry Quarterly Review.
